Hi Ross,
I am writing you this e-mail to tell you that I am so upset with respect to the vacation me and my boyfriend went on from the 10th to the 14th of Feb to Bahamas Nassau.
We wanted a romantic getaway for Valentines weekend and we have not been away in so long due to affordability and work and children.
We were so excited at the prospect of going away for a few days to an “all inclusive” four star resort.
If you consider the” breezes” a four star resort I would dread to see what a three or a two star resort was like.
The food was terrible…they had two a la carte restaurants (one was open for 2 nights of our stay); you had to make reservations a day prior to the evening you wanted to reserve a space in these restaurants. The first day we arrived it was 4.00PM therefore to late to reserve for the first or second evening. We were stuck with a “cafeteria” style buffet setting with little to NO atmosphere. The food was mediocre at best. The third night we were able to reserve a table at the Garden of Eden. This reservation had to be done by 9.30AM the day before (which means we had to get up early just to make a reservations as we were informed by 10.00 AM all the spots were gone). When we did go to this restaurant, the majority of the restaurant was outside. Under most circumstances I would have been delighted to sit outside but it was about 60 degrees and very cold and windy. There were no heat lamps so we grinned and bared it (they had NO tables inside). The service was terrible as they had one waiter serving all of the tables. We were there for almost 2 hours. I sat with a jacket and a blanket on my legs (which I ended up getting from my room).
You could not drink the water (it was not safe) and there was no supply of water bottles. If you wanted filtered water you had to go to the gym (with your own bottle or glass) and get it from the one and only water machine.
They had a very slim selection of alcohol (not even supplying Malibu rum….), and no swim up bar.
The pool was not heated and you definitely could not use it as it was about 62 degrees.
The hot tub was milky and dirty as this was the only place that people could enjoy some warm water.
The rooms at best were average with floral bedcovers and curtains and they charged me a fortune for 4 calls I made to Toronto (over $260.00). They even forgot to clean our room one day and we had to call maid service several times at 6.00PM to get them to come up and clean our room that day. They showed up at 7.30 PM and did an adequate job.
The entertainment at night was good but we could not even enjoy that as the whole main area was open with no windows or doors so it was way to cold to enjoy anything much.
There area at the main entrance was outdated and looked like something from the 1970s.
To add insult to injury the night before we left we asked for a wake up call as our bus to take us to the airport was picking us up at 9.30AM from the hotel, (for a 12.30 flight back to Toronto)…..they FORGOT to wake us!!! We hard a knocking on the door by room service at around 9.40, we were rushed and nervous that we would not make it to the airport in time. We ended up missing breakfast and having to pay for a cab to go to the airport.
I am so disgusted by this hotel and service. It was my first time to Bahamas and I am not sure that I ever want to go back.
I feel we should be compensated for this terrible experience. I feel that if we are NOT that I will post my time on your site and let other travelers know about the Breezes and what type of service, accommodations and food they offer.
I am not blaming you as I was the one that asked you to book me there but I feel someone has to take responsibility for this disaster of a time.
